A Unique Program Linwood Monroe Arts Plus Pre K-8 offers a truly unique educational setting in the Twin Cities area.
Spanning two campuses, Linwood Monroe Arts Plus provides arts-infused curriculum for
children pre-K through grade 8. Children in Kindergarten through grade
3 are introduced to arts-infused learning at the Linwood campus and
continue grades 4 – 8 at the Monroe campus. Pre- Kindergarten for 4
year olds and early childhood programs for children birth to five
years old are also housed in spacious and newly designed rooms on the
Monroe campus.
Rigorous Learning + Arts! At both
sites students are challenged with rigorous reading, writing, and math
instruction. Additionally, there is daily instruction in the arts both
during regular classroom instruction as well as during specialist
classes. The arts classes are taught by trained specialists in the
areas of: visual arts, drama, vocal music, instrumental music, and
dance.
Junior High Experience After completing
their elementary years at Monroe students step seamlessly into the
junior high, where their teachers already know them as a result of
being a part of the same learning community Monroe Campus, Grades Pre-K, 4-8, located at 810 Palace Avenue since Kindergarten. At the
junior high level, students receive the same content area instruction
delivered at other Saint Paul schools, and continue with their
arts-infused learning.
Arts Partnerships Monroe and
Linwood have a well developed set of partnerships and residencies with
agencies such as U.S. Bank, Macalester College, Perpich Center for Arts
Education, and The Ordway Center for Performing Arts, just to name a
few. Because of these partnerships, students of all ages have
opportunities to experience arts through a variety of field trips
throughout the year. Each week students also show what they have
learned through performance at the school wide Friday Gathering.
